After visiting Kenya, we were lucky enough to see firsthand the impact Opblue is having on schools and communities in need. We saw how much something as simple as access to food and clean, safe drinking water can change a child's day — and their opportunity to learn.
We visited a school in Kajiado, Kenya, where we met the most wonderful kids and watched the Opblue feeding program in action. Seeing the children receiving meals at school was something that really stuck with us. For many children, a meal at school isn't just lunch — proper nutrition can be the difference between being able to attend school and having to stay home.
The Opblue Rug was created as a way for us, and our Salty Aura community, to help make a difference. Through your purchase, we're collectively helping Opblue continue the work they're doing for children and communities in Kenya.

Spot clean when possible. Hand wash in cold, soapy water and hang to dry. Avoid harsh detergents and fabric softness. Avoid machine washing, but If its necessary use a delicate cycle. The rug may shrink 10% once washed, but will expand again after use. They soften with each wash like other throw blankets. The rugs are woven, so be careful when using around sharp objects (pointy rings, car keys etc) so you don't pull any threads. Some people use them on the ground to brighten up their room, however please don't vacuum the rugs.

absolutely adore this rug and it makes me so happy every time i use it whether that’s to cover my day bed go on a picnic/ to the beach/ camping or use it as a throw on the couch- was one of those things i wasn’t gonna buy because i wasn’t sure id get the use out of it and that definitely hasn’t been true - love the kenya print and the fact some of the money goes to charity. also love supporting a small aussie beachy business, gonna buy my sister one for christmas x

We began designing woven throw rugs in Australia in 2018 after we struggled to find colourful, versatile throws we wanted to take travelling ourselves. What started as a rug for our own road trips has grown into more than 50 original Salty Aura designs, used in homes, vans, campsites and on adventures across Australia.
